Would a land-locked lagoon work in Lakeland?
5. That’s how many Central Florida counties will be getting their very own “Caribbean-style lagoons,” featuring crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches + plenty of room for a range of water sports.
Built by Crystal Lagoons, these outdoor attractions are man-made + use water with fewer chemicals —100 times fewer chemicals than what you’d find in your average pool. Epperson Lagoon | Photo via @christopherfisherphotography Currently, a similar idea is taking off in Wesley Chapel, called Epperson Lagoon, however that particular model is private and attached to a residential area.
Crystal Lagoons' new developments will be public access without the tie into a neighborhood and will be situated in the following counties by 2023:
The first 3 projects to reach completion will pop up specifically in Orlando, Kissimmee, and the Villages.
Although there aren't any plans yet for a Lakeland lagoon (although it was talked about in 2018), we want to know: how would you feel about an inland island getaway in our city, or at least our county?
